Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has been covering the natural and military disasters of nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of people living in these regions. Curry covered the conflicts that raged in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19th, 1956 in the city of Agana) was an American TV anchor, reporter as well as a journalist. Her most renowned work was for being a correspondent of The Today Show, which was a morning news program that was broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Her reporting stood out for her reporting on humanitarian emergencies that took place in war-torn nations and natural disasters. Curry's maternal grandmother is Japanese and her father was an American Navy Sailor. She met her mother while stationed with her father in Japan following World War II. Due to her father's military service, the family relocated often. They eventually arrived in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. After graduating from University of Oregon, Curry earned a bachelor of journalism degree in the year 1978. In her youth, she was exposed to diverse cultures. Curry could not go to a single school in Alameda, San Diego Oregon, or Virginia over the course of two years due to her family relocated frequently. Ashland was the school where Curry earned her diploma. Her broadcasting career began as an internship at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. When she was 22, she eventually became the first female journalist at that station. After that, she moved to anchoring and reporting for KGW, an NBC-affiliated station in Portland. The following year, she relocated back to Los Angeles as a reporter for KBS-TV. It was during her time with the station for the duration of six years that she won the two Emmy Awards.
